Rainforest Native supports Global Goods Partners

December 2009
Donna Karan's Urban Zen Foundation hosted a sale by Global Goods Partners, a fair-trade, not-for-profit organization dedicated to alleviating poverty and promoting social justice around the world. Items by Rainforest Native, SurRevolution, Piel Acida and other fare trade enterprises were sold to benefit their work of supporting women in marginalized communities by selling sustainable handicrafts, thereby encouraging responsible natural resource management. Needless to say everyone wins in this equation!


Rainforest Native at Mountainfilm Festival in Telluride

Mountainfilm is the festival for documentary filmmakers, explorers, social and environmental activists and entrepreneurs. And Rainforest Native donated 100 bracelets to support this exceptional event and organization.


Rainforest Native sponsors the Green Schools Alliance

Earth Day, New York City, 2009

Rainforest Native underwrote the Green Schools Alliance booth at NYSchools 09 and at Earthfair, Grand Central Station, by donating 100 bracelets and letting K-12 students sell them. The schoolchildren raised over $500 and learned to talk to visitors about the importance of buying fair-trade, non-timber forest products from the Amazon to combat climate change. We look forward to doing more events with schools in the future.

Rainforest Native at the American Museum of Natural History 09 Fundraiser

Rainforest Native donated 700 bracelets to the Environmental Lecture Series at the American Museum of Natural History, the proceeds of which benefitted educational programs and the Center for Biodiversity and Conservation.The 09 Guest panel featured Sloane Barnett, Alisa Gravitz and Gus Speth. Guests enjoyed organic food and Sambazon acai sorbet!

They liked them so much that they are now available on their website, with proceeds benefiting their organization and their work with the indigenous people of the Amazon.
